There is no formula for success as a musician besides authenticity. Pouring your heart and soul into the work without regard for what comes next. This is how SoCal-born and Seattle-based producer Longstocking has found her success, and that legacy continues with her latest single "Compersion," out now on Lots of Practice.

So far in the short but exciting career of Longstocking, real name Denni Kindred, 100 percent of her six original offerings have charted on Beatport. Her debut EP Pleasure Fodder peaked at number one on the deep house top ten, and since then she has landed releases on Kevin Knapp's Plump Records and the coalition of inclusivity, HE.SHE.THEY

The unmistakable trend amongst Kindred's productions that results in charted success is a pure reverence for dance music culture and an honest confession of her sonic preferences. As a queer, non-binary artist, she has fostered a historic connection to house, while her widespread musical experience in punk and other genres allows her effortless manipulation of what's expected into complete and welcome surprise.

On "Compersion," Kindred champions a genre of her own making called deep breaks, where spirited bass lines and synth passages match raw kit drum beats in flexible joy. From a different angle, the instrumental soundscapes and minimalist approach lend themselves more to a jazz or lofi hip hop release, but Kindred poured her heart and soul into this track, and her heart and soul remain in dance music.
